The different types of dental radiographs that are discussed include: bitewings, periapical films, panoramic films, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital radiographs.
This leaflet can be a useful tool for patients needing dental x-rays for the following reasons:
- To assist detection of some oral conditions, such as oral cancer, impacted teeth or bone loss due to gum disease
- Prior to procedures such as tooth extraction, fitting of braces, and root canal treatment
- After trauma or injury
