Imaging Temporomandibular Joint
The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive overview of the imaging techniques in the diagnosis of diseases of the temporomandibular joint with a special emphasis on internal derangement. It guides the reader in making an informed selection among the spectrum of imaging technologies available, describing the capabilities, limitations, and applications of each in clear detail. The first section of this text provides a detailed description of both the normal and abnormal anatomy of the soft and hard tissues of the temporomandibular joint. Imaging modalities presented range from establisehd to state-of-the art technologies including: plain film, arthrography, computerized tomography, radionuclide imaging, and MRI. Early experiences with joint sound analysis as a screening modality are also discussed. There are detailed descriptions of normal anatomy and of abnormal functional and anatomic relationships.
