Maxillofacial Trauma and Esthetic Reconstruction: Repair and Reconstruction

Changes in the etiology and management of Maxillofacial Trauma over the past 10 years have led to the need for a new book on this complex area of trauma.  

Maxillofacial Trauma is a landmark new one-volume, full colour text covering all aspects of the management of facial trauma. Written by an international team of oral and maxillofacial and plastic surgeons, Maxillofacial Trauma provides detailed practical guidance from the moment the trauma patient arrives in hospital to the secondary procedures that may be needed for full repair of the soft tissues of the face and neck.

Introductory chapters cover the Aetiology of Maxillofacial Trauma, Immediate Care of the patient, with particular relevance to the maxillofacial injuries sustained, and Radiological Investigations. These are followed by detailed chapters on reduction and fixation, surgical access, and chapters on fractures of each of the facial bones, providing protocols of the overall management of the patient, before, during and after surgery. Particular emphasis will be placed on areas of controversy such as management of condylar neck fractures and orbital fractures.

The final section of the book will be dedicated to soft tissue repair and secondary procedures to improve the overall result after facial trauma. This will include chapters on scar management, osteotomies and grafting, and nerve repair and reanimation.
