Alveolar Distraction Osteogenesis
This book introduces a novel approach to alveolar augmentation: alveolar distraction osteogenesis. Still in its infancy, this method offers the potential for increasing alveolar bone height and width while avoiding many of the risks associated with bone grafting. Until recently, this technique has been used only under special circumstances in patients whose options are limited. However, ongoing clinical studies show promise for much wider application.
In this text, leading international investigators of alveolar distraction osteogenesis address such topics as:
* When should distraction be used?
* Can a stable 5- or 10-mm vertical augmentation be achieved with distraction?
* Are implants dependable in distraction sites?
* Can distraction enhance esthetics?
* Can distraction be used for implants with elongated crowns?
