Osseointegration and Esthetics in Single Tooth Rehabilitation

This book arms clinicians with the knowledge they need to perform esthetic single-tooth restoration procedures, particularly in the anterior region. Achieving an ideal esthetic result requires attention to factors such as reverse planning, choosing the ideal abutment, and careful management of the gingiva to guide papillae formation. Chapters on bone augmentation, solutions for partial anodontia, and increasing patient comfort, among others, address the needs of patients with special considerations.Preface:
For the first time, I have the privilege of introducing a book prepared by a docent of our department team, a former student of our school, and an authority that brought uncountable benefits to our society, three expressive personalities within Dentistry.

The professor Carlos Eduardo Francishone, also known as Ado by the people closer to him, represents, in one hand, that responsible clinic, of integrated actuation and knowledge, who knew how to get not only the admiration but also the cognizance of all his class, what dignifies him and puts him as one of the most prestigious professionals of our city. On the other hand, he is perfectly identified with his career as a docent, who knows how to join the teaching to the researching in a inseparable way, may it be at Faculdade de Odontologia de Bauru-USP, at Universidade Sagrado Coracao of Bauru, or in the unnumerable courses he gives here in Brazil and abroad, divulging and making indelible marks of work philosophy that leads the Dentistry practice in Bauru. I have accompanied Ado since he was a student, graduated in 1971, and afterwards invited by us to be a part of our team, thanks to his interest and special qualification, which certainly are the products of a solid formation and a respect for the moral values and familiar traditions. Therefore, in this ocasion I also congratulate his parents, siblings, wife and children, who always knew how to keep up with him and give incentives, to all his initiatives. For our department, and especially for me, this issue is a great pride and it is my honor to write this preface. For all people who knew Doctor Laercio Vasconcelos, when he still was a student at FOB, from 1974 to 1977, it came as no surprise his engagement and distinction within the profession. From the beginning, he always attempted to improve himself in the specialty he chose. He was also able to bring to us, from international centdrs, the needed experience and contents to the application and performance in our country, within an area that has been the tarted of our most dedicated attention and study, specially in the last twenty years. In the administration of Branemark Osseointegration Center of Sao Paulo, he has enabled an authoritative formation and updating of dental surgeons, compromised to the ethical and consistent exercise of their professional activities.

The scientific and philanthropist work, which was developed by Professor Per Ingvar Branemark, is internationally acknowledged. Besides being a great scientist, this brilliant personality has the special gift of involving and transmitting to his patients many optimism lessons, giving back to them the opportunity of soothing their dreams and hoping for the best. Much more important than making a knowledge integration is to rebuild lives, where the Branemark Osseointegration Center is certainly the heart and the Professor Per Ingvar is the Soul. The implicit principles on the chapter that he prepared show, not only on his actuation, but also on every teat that was formed by him, tha the communication, coordenation, and cooperation are fundamental characteristics for the fulfilling of any goal, and that the greatest personal satisfaction is to serve, because the reward is immediate to those who believe.

Therefore, we can see that the union of these three elements could only lead to a text that would brin incontestable benefits to all the people who are involved with Implant Dentistry in any manner, as docents, clinics, technicians or students. This publication, unprecendented in the way it is presented compresses chapters that are extremely objective and properly illustrated. These chapters approach all the aspects related to osseointegration - identification, bibliography and characteristics - and to the complexity and technology of single implants, showing the significance of the exact sequence and the sovereignty of technical and scientific resources on the planning and works performance, aiming to the attendance of favourable esthetical and biomechanical results, through the integration with other dental specialties. This publication presents also the basis for the development and fulfilling of all results, which means always actuating within the humanity respect and quality patterns.
